Oaks Christian Online School is under the WASC accreditation umbrella of Oaks Christian School. OCO is pursuing full, separate accreditation along with UC and NCAA approval for all core classes.

What extra activities are available to full-time students?

Full-time students have access to the kick-off picnic, clubs, fieldtrips, retreats, college visits, weekly chapel discussions, and other face-to-face and virtual events. Online students will also have the time and flexibility to pursue their own passions. OCO encourages students to find a blend of online and offline activities to balance their lives. What are the Community Service Requirements for full-time students?

Full-time students take a yearly Credit/ No Credit Spiritual Life Course where they are guided in the process of selecting and completing semester-long community service projects. Students are required to complete 10 hours of service per semester. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in face to face community service fieldtrips. Students must pass their Spiritual Life Course in order to receive an OCO diploma. Click here to read more about the course.

What are the courses like?

Our courses started with award-winning Florida Virtual Schools’ curriculum and have been reviewed by the Christian teachers at Sevenstar Academy as well as by the teachers of Oaks Christian School main campus. How can parents become involved in their student’s learning?

We are excited to partner with parents! Monthly, online Parent – Teacher Fellowship meetings will be held along with access to recordings of college evenings, chapels and other events. A back to school picnic will provide a face to face opportunity to meet other parents. Parents can also get directly involved with their student’s day to day schooling through the use of a mentor account.

What kind of school calendar does OCO have?

Full-time students are on a traditional school year calendar. Click here, to access the school calendar. Applications are accepted for the full-time school from January – August. Part-time students can enroll on a weekly, rolling basis throughout the year. Click here information about the application process.

What does the 4 Year College Counseling Course involve?

Students participate in activities per quarter, based on grade level, that help them prepare for selecting their reach, target and safety college choices. A few of the many activities include preparing for SAT and ACT tests, understanding individual learning styles and talents, and visiting colleges.

Does OCO have summer school?

Oaks Christian School offers many summer school remediation and enrichment courses on the main campus. In addition, the online school also offers courses over the summer that may be taken on a part-time student basis. Watch for announcements on the new summer offerings.

Do you offer AP or Dual-Credit courses?

Yes. Students have the option of Advanced Placement and Dual-Credit courses with participating universities. Click here for more information.

Are books required for the courses?

It is important to view the materials requirements for each course. While some courses require textbooks, others require novels or additional materials that can be found at the library. AP and honors courses, may have additional requirements. Go to the Course Catalog and click on a specific course for the list of materials.

Do you offer part-time courses for credit?

Yes. Students can take individual courses for credit. It is very important that students check with their local high school counselor to make sure that the course will count for credit towards their graduation requirements as well as for any future college they may attend. How do students get technical support?

Students can get help in a number of ways. They can contact their teacher, access the frequently asked technical questions data-base, or use the help tab in their course to report a problem. Additional information about Systems Requirements can be found here.

How long do students have to complete a course, and can they work at their own pace?
-
A
Semester-long courses usually represent 18 weeks of work on a traditional schedule. Year-long courses are traditionally 36 weeks. Full-time students create a pace chart and schedule work over a 36 week year-long calendar. Part-time students have the option of accelerating or extending their pacing chart when they enroll.

Where can students find information about academic honesty, online safety, refund requests, GPA calculations, report cards, extensions and other school policies?
